Why Phi Delta Theta?

Academics
A successful and fulfilling education is the primary reason students enroll in college. Sound learning is one of Phi Delta Theta's cardinal principles and it is encouraged and emphasized in our Chapter. We have an ongoing scholarship program which rewards our members for succeeding in school and the Phi Delta Theta Educational Foundation awards thousands of dollars annually to Phi Delta Theta members. Phi Delta Theta has a history of academic excellence and we have succeeded in winning the top GPA on campus for the past two years.

Brotherhood
Although it must be stressed that academics must always come first while in college, it is also important to realize that there is more to the college experience than just classes. Much of your undergraduate education is what you learn outside the classroom. At Phi Delta Theta, not only do we offer a brotherhood of people you may in time be able to call life long friends, but through this group of people we offer facets into many different areas of the college experience. The brothers are a diverse group of people who are leaders in many different organizations at USD, such as Student Government Association, Honors Association, Program Council, several honor societies, and several club and intramural sports. If you are having academic trouble you can consult our faculty advisor or turn to a brother who has your major. Phi Delta Theta brings men together from several backgrounds to foster similar ideals and goals and is truly a fraternity for life.

Community Service
Every year, Phi Delta Theta participates in many community service activities. We have our local Chislic Feed which raises money for a different local cause each year, last year we assisted a Vermillion family with medical expenses related to their child. We also participate in other philanthropies on campus. We also travel to Lincoln, NE and participate in a walk to defeat ALS along with Phi Delts from the University of Nebraska.

The Chapter House
Our house is located on the corner of campus (on the intersection of Clark and Dakota streets) and it includes several amenities which make living easier and more comfortable. The house has a computer lab with new Dell computers and a laser printer, high speed wireless and wired internet access in each room, full-time cook, free laundry facilities, flat panel HDTV with HD service and DVR, and a game room that includes pool & foos tables.
